A powerful fashion show held at Bath Abbey has helped raise both funds and awareness for local charities supporting people with life-limiting conditions. The event, Strength in Style, brought patients, families, doctors, and nurses together on the catwalk in an inspiring celebration of courage, community, and second-hand fashion.
The unique show aimed not only to raise money but also to highlight the importance of living joyfully, even in the face of serious illness. The event championed pre-loved clothing, sustainability, and self-expression, while supporting three key charities: Dorothy House Hospice Care, Children’s Hospice South West, and the cancer support charity We Get It.
Among the models was 12-year-old Kirianna, who walked the runway in honour of her younger sister, Zeniah. Zeniah lives with a rare genetic condition that causes severe mobility issues, seizures, and heart complications. For Kirianna, the fashion show was an opportunity to give back to the organisations that have supported her family throughout their journey.
Kirianna and other participants were styled by local volunteers and professionals, creating a supportive backstage environment full of excitement and camaraderie. The Abbey’s historic setting added to the emotional impact of the evening, combining beauty and purpose in one unforgettable event.
Also taking part were nurses, doctors, and other families affected by life-limiting illnesses. Many said the show gave them a much-needed moment to feel celebrated and seen. It wasn’t just about clothes—it was about confidence, resilience, and community spirit.
The event also raised awareness about the value of second-hand fashion, challenging stereotypes and showing how sustainable clothing can be stylish, meaningful, and empowering.
Funds raised from Strength in Style will go directly toward services that provide comfort, care, and support to families across the West of England facing incredibly difficult circumstances.
As the evening came to a close, the message was clear: fashion can be a powerful tool for change, connection, and healing.
Whether on the runway or in the audience, everyone left Bath Abbey with a renewed sense of purpose—and a reminder that strength truly can be found in style
