Mithridate Defines the ‘Britcore’ London Look at LFW SS26

At London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026, Mithridate — under the creative direction of Daniel Fletcher — delivered a confident and captivating interpretation of what’s quickly being dubbed the season’s definitive “London Look.” Though the brand is based in Guangzhou, China, Fletcher’s vision for Mithridate rooted itself firmly in British soil, blending tradition with subcultural edge to create a collection that embodied the rising ‘Britcore’ aesthetic.

A term gaining momentum on social media, Britcore refers to a hybrid style that fuses quintessential English countryside motifs with gritty, urban streetwear. For SS26, Fletcher harnessed this fusion with a collection that was both nostalgic and forward-looking. Think prep-school rugby shirts, utilitarian jackets, and masculine leather footwear, softened and contrasted with sequinned skirts, delicate fabrics, and artful layering.

One of the standout ensembles — Look 11 — exemplified the label’s new direction. It featured a cropped, double-collared rugby shirt in deep tones layered under a classic brown leather jacket. The bottom half contrasted sharply yet harmoniously: a shimmering, low-rise green sequined skirt, edged with a frayed underskirt and cinched with a rustic rope-tied waistband. This thoughtful clash of masculine tailoring and feminine embellishment perfectly encapsulated Fletcher’s nuanced take on contemporary British identity.

Elsewhere in the collection, the play between heritage and rebellion continued. Tailored trench coats were reimagined with raw hems, oversized silhouettes softened by gauzy underlayers, and structured suiting disrupted by experimental cuts and unexpected textures. The colour palette leaned into earthy greens, muted browns, and weathered neutrals — evocative of both the countryside and the city streets.

Fletcher’s SS26 outing for Mithridate wasn’t just about referencing British fashion tropes — it was about reinventing them. In his hands, the “London Look” became more than just a visual shorthand; it evolved into a dynamic conversation between tradition and subversion, masculinity and femininity, East and West.

Ultimately, Mithridate’s SS26 collection stood out not only for its aesthetic impact but also for its cultural fluency. Fletcher offered more than just clothes — he delivered a fashion narrative that feels distinctly British, yet undeniably global.
